Training Tools and Tips

  • homemade flannelboard
  • story apron
  • portable displays
  • posters - use images rather than words - max 15 words to a poster
  • laminate posters so that you can write on them (sometimes a drop of liquid detergent is needed to get the residue off.)
  • make a poster board story book - cut in the shape of a trefoil and held together with several snap rings - the Law - on point on each page could be presented like this
  • or - outdoor recipes , but the front could be a nice fire with a cookpot on top - could also include directions for making buddy burners etc
  • cultivate resources - get to know what you can borrow and from where - often companies will have equipment which might be borrowed if you know the right person.

  • electronic notes - at registration, ask for e-mail address and then send out the agenda for the training and any handouts electronically.  If you don’t have access to the internet, many libraries do now, or you could possibly borrow a friend’s computer.
