Heritage Lake

Heritage Lake Girl Guide Camp is located on Highway #913 north and east of Candle Lake in the beautiful boreal forest of Northern Saskatchewan.  It has been developed on 25 acres of birch, poplar and pine forest on a crystal clear lake that invites swimmers to take a dip!  Spectacular sunsets and glowing sunrises will warm your soul while you listen to the call of the loon.

Traditionally, tents have been the heart of Heritage.  Camping is done “under canvas” with enough canvas and lightweight tents on site to accommodate 50 -60 campers and staff.  Also provided are patrol boxes and cooking equipment, including barrel stoves and barbecue grills.  Storage, cooking and work space is available in the summer lodge. This building now has electricity and an electric refrigerator. A screened porch provides an excellent gathering area during inclement weather.

As we celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Heritage Lake camp in August of 2000, excitement was high since we were also celebrating the grand opening of the long-awaited “Friends of Heritage” three season sleeping lodge. Since the lodge will be ideal for early spring and late fall camping, the season for the camp has been considerably extended. The lodge features 6 bedrooms with 4 bunks each, a large main area, electric heat and a wooden cook stove.  Heritage Lake Camp now has facilities which should appeal to campers and Guiders of all ages!

Regardless of whether you are planning a tenting or residential camp, Heritage offers dauntless campers the opportunity to experience a wilderness adventure. The area surrounding the lake offers excellent hiking opportunities and a chance to discover the flora and fauna of the region.  The “Back 40” provides a site for a no-trace camping excursion.

The camp fee includes the cost of a Waterfront Supervisor as well as the use of the canoes, for camps having qualified personnel. Program, food services, and first aid are all the responsibility of the unit camping.

Heritage welcomes out-of-province guests, but maintains the right to reserve space for in-province members, since Saskatchewan Guiding has been our faithful supporter for over 40 years.
