C.J.L. Program

(Can-ta-ka-ye Junior Leader Development Program)

Do you know a girl who is 15 - 17 years of age, has an interest in Guiding and works well with younger girls? Then the Can-ta-ka-ye Junior Leader Development Program (CJLDP) is perfect for her!

This intensive leadership training program is split into 3 levels and are completed in order (though age and experience may be taken into consideration). Level 1 introduces the girls to the different aspects of Camp Can-ta-ka-ye. During their stay, girls in Level 1 will have the opportunity to shadow each Can-ta-ka-ye staff member for a half-day. These girls will also be responsible for leading various camp activities such as campfire, colours and reflections, crafts and programs.

Girls who take part in the second level of the CJL program will take on a greater leadership role. During their time spent at camp, Level 2 CJL's will be in charge of planning and implementing at least one half-day.

Girls who complete Levels 1 & 2 and/or have had a lot of prior leadership experience may participate in the 3rd level of the CJL Program. In this level girls choose to shadow one staff member (excluding the Camp Director) for the majority of their time at Can-ta-ka-ye. This gives the girls an opportunity to see what duties one staff member performs daily. This experience may also help prepare Level 3 CJL's for future employment at Camp Can-ta-ka-ye.
